OceanWood Capital Goes Live On Capstone to Boost Front Office

Fidessa LatentZero extends its hedge fund client base.

Oceanwood Capital, the London and Boston-based investment manager, with $1.7 billion in hedge fund assets under management, has gone live on Capstone from Fidessa LatentZero. The implementation saw Fidessa LatentZero successfully partner with Oceanwood, and the administrators to their funds, CITCO Fund Services. Capstone for hedge funds is a fully integrated front-office position analysis and trading solution that provides support for all asset classes, including OTC derivatives, with real-time positions and P&L, integrated market data, order management and trading, and integrated compliance in one easy-to-use application. Oceanwood will be using the system for equities, equity options and fixed income.

Oceanwood has also deployed LTN, Fidessa LatentZero's fully managed service that provides FIX connectivity and offers a single provider for both the management of FIX infrastructure and the provision of an order routing network. In addition, Fidessa LatentZero have been working closely with CITCO, the fund administration firm, in order to create an interface that transfers data directly between Capstone and CITCO's AXEO system. William Nicholas, chief operating officer at Oceanwood Capital, said in a press release, "Having looked at other vendors and assessed the products available, we chose Fidessa LatentZero's Capstone for a number of reasons. We were impressed with the system's true multi-asset class capabilities and full FIX connectivity, and also liked the look and feel of the GUI. Fidessa LatentZero has demonstrated considerable commitment to the hedge fund space, and has been responsive in configuring its solution to meet our needs, and that too was a significant factor in our choice," he added.

Richard Jones, CEO of Fidessa LatentZero said in the release, "we are continuing to consolidate our position within the hedge fund space, and are delighted that Oceanwood Capital is using our Capstone solution for the front office. We are seeing an increasing demand being placed on hedge funds to demonstrate operational control and effective compliance management fully integrated with their front office processes. In such a competitive market, it is increasingly important that hedge funds utilise appropriate high-end front office technology that can be deployed quickly and efficiently."

Top Quotes of the Week
It wasn't all bad luck for the capital markets this week: Hedge funds had a decent first quarter despite a slowdown in jobs numbers, BlackRock might be heading into new territory as hedge fund managers take a hard look at their counterparties, and the head of the IMF didn't pull any punches when assessing today's global economy. At least we can admire the nice weather and some of the best quotes of the week.
