Chris Augustin is the latest former Citigroup technology executive to join Merrill Lynch, following Thomas Sanzone who joined the firm as EVP and chief administrative officer earlier this year. In addition, Pradeep Pai has joined Merrill Lynch as managing director & CTO, Investment Banking & Research. Previously, Pai was director, fixed income technology for Citigroup, Markets & Banking.
Augustin, formerly CIO and global head of capital markets and banking technology at Citigroup, has more than 20 years of financial services technology leadership experience has and joined Merrill Lynch as CIO. At Citigroup, Austin led a team of 3,000 in 14 locations around the world and was responsible for all strategy, development, implementation and support of front-office sales and trading applications. Augustin, also headed an initiative to use semantic technologies to organize information from diverse financial-data feeds while at Citigroup. Prior to that role, Chris was CIO for Citigroup's Fixed Income business and held a number of senior technology positions at Salomon Inc.
Augustin will report to CAO Sanzone, who has responsibility for Merrill Lynch's global technology, operations and corporate services groups. Sanzone, 47, was most recently CIO of Credit Suisse since 2005. Prior to that, Sanzone was CIO for Citigroup's Corporate and Investment Bank, the Private Client Group and the Global Transaction Services business.
