AIMCo Selects SimCorp Dimension As Enterprise Solution

Alberta Investment Management Corporation, a Canadian investment management firm, chooses SimCorp to provide investment operations.

Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo), an investment manager in Canada, has chosen SimCorp Dimension for its investment operations. SimCorp USA is the North American subsidiary of investment management software company SimCorp. AIMCo invests more than $70 billion, on behalf of a number of public sector pension, endowment and special purpose funds, across a range of asset classes. "We were especially impressed by the flexibility, and the breadth and depth of functionality of SimCorp Dimension," said Jay Kembhavi, COO at AIMCo, in a press release. "Since we work with an array of asset classes, it was particularly important to have a comprehensive platform that could manage our range of investments," he added.

SimCorp develops and implements one product - SimCorp Dimension - an integrated, enterprise-level tool that provides front, middle, and back office solutions for the investment management industry. Headquartered in Denmark, and listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Copenhagen A/S, the company has a worldwide client base of approximately 160 financial institutions, and has established subsidiaries and offices throughout the world to support them. "We are delighted to add AIMCo to our growing list of North American clients, and see this as further evidence of acceptance of our platform and our emerging leadership within the North American market," said David Kubersky, president of SimCorp USA, in the release. "As a newly formed crown corporation, AIMCo has a great deal of growth ahead of them, and we are very pleased that SimCorp Dimension was chosen as the future investment management platform," he added.

It wasn't all bad luck for the capital markets this week: Hedge funds had a decent first quarter despite a slowdown in jobs numbers, BlackRock might be heading into new territory as hedge fund managers take a hard look at their counterparties, and the head of the IMF didn't pull any punches when assessing today's global economy. At least we can admire the nice weather and some of the best quotes of the week.
